Yesterday we had the wonderful opportunity of surprising our children with a trip to the local ice rink. Only Tim had ever been on the ice and so it was a first for most of the kids. It started off that the ice rink had a free ice skating lesson (though it only lasted 15 mins.) followed by a free skate day so we get to the rink around 11:10 and put on our ice skates and wore them until 3:30 (the end of the free skate). Let me tell you my toesies were numb. The kids actually did pretty well overall. Even Eleana did better on the ice than she does with roller skates. Most were finished before the allotted free time was done.
After the free skate they had a skating performance by some local skaters (one of which was my cousin's daughter). We decided to stay and watch. It was quite impressive watching these girls and boys perform.
Needless to say that after spending the whole day at the ice rink when we got home it was time for a round of homemade hot chocolate for the kids.
